Organist Cameron Carpenter throws out rulebook
With his fearless wardrobe, edgy hair and atheist views, Cameron Carpenter is not your typical organist.
He is known as a "smasher of cultural and classical-music taboos," but that was never his intention. Driven by a deep passion for his instrument, Carpenter has inadvertently changed the organ world forever.
The Grammy nominee is credited for creating the International Touring Organ — the first digital version of the instrument — but personally he is more concerned with the message behind his medium.
Currently on tour across Canada, with a stop at Toronto's Koerner Hall tonight, he swings through studio q to chat with Shad.
