Why Jeff Garlin is the go-to guy for so many comedians

Most people may remember Jeff Garlin as Larry David's sidekick and straight man on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. But outside of the show, he's known as a "comedian's comedian."

In addition to doing his own brilliant, off-the-cuff standup act, he has directed comedy specials for Jon Stewart and Dennis Leary. Now, he's got a new project called Handsome: A Netflix Mystery, which started streaming on Friday.

Of course the movie is actually a comedy. Garlin plays Gene Handsome, an L.A. police detective who can solve murders, but who has less success in his personal life.

Today on the show, Tom Power talks to the comedian about the movie, which Garlin wrote and directed, and his love of the '70s detective show Columbo, which served as an inspiration for this project.
