While fans may know that Cheech Marin met his comedy partner, Tommy Chong, in Canada, his latest book reveals some more surprising Canadian connections. For example, did you know that Marin was once an apprentice to a famous potter in Alberta?

"In my last semester in school, I took a pottery class that totally changed my life," Marin explains. "My recessive Mexican handcrafted genes came jumping out at that point! So, I eventually ended up living in this part of Alberta, to be a potter."

This is just one of many interesting tidbits that come out in Cheech is Not my Real Name: ...But Don't Call me Chong (out now). Today on the show, Marin joins guest host Ali Hassan to discuss some formative songs that marked important moments in his life, the story behind his famous "Dave" bit and his thoughts on Donald Trump's proposed wall.

Below are all the songs mentioned in the interview:

Herbie Mann, 'It Ain't Necessarily So'

The Supremes, 'Does Your Mama Know About Me'

Cheech and Chong, 'Dave'

Cheech and Chong, 'Born in East L.A.'
