Eugene Onegin is a Russian classic by Alexander Pushkin that has been transformed into an opera, a ballet and a play in the past. Now, we can add rock musical to that list.

Veda Hille is the co-creator and musical supervisor of Onegin, and is admittedly drawn to Russian tales like this. She calls the new production "nuanced and contemporary like so many of the great Russian pieces are."

Hille joins guest host Ali Hassan today to discuss Onegin and the process behind writing the songs for this musical.

Onegin runs until June 4 at Toronto's Berkeley Street Theatre. For more information about it, head over to the theatre's website.
