This mattress sends you a text when your spouse is cheating

“If your partner isn't faithful, at least your mattress is”

Worried about a wandering husband? Suspicious of your wife? The answer is obvious: spy on your spouse with a robot mattress.

This week, the "Smartress" made headlines around the world. It's a high-tech mattress outfitted with sensors known as the "lover detection system," which identifies unusual movement and intensity. The bed then alerts you by text when the mattress is in use.

Additional features include a speedometer and a 3D report of where on the bed the most activity was registered.

Whatever happened to just hiring a private investigator or hiding in the closet?- ex-politician Peter MacKay on old-timey methods for catching a cheater

It seems fitting that former foreign affairs minister Peter MacKay appeared on Because News this week, given that host Gavin Crawford was looking for the reason why Spain of all places would invent this product.

MacKay drew on his previous portfolio, saying "I think they're really in need of generating some sort of revenue, so they're thinking outside the box and they've come up with a very expensive mattress that might appeal to the libido of the Spanish people."

And, he's right.

Spain, in particular, is in need of a cheat detector. According to Ashley Madison's website, the average Spanish man enjoys 2.4 affairs a year.

"It makes you reconsider what they're doing during that siesta, " said panellist Ashley Botting.
