Happy birthday internet! What a difference 25 years makes
It's been a quarter century of online collaboration, information-sharing and Rick Rolling! That's right: this week, the internet turned 25.
The "Mine of Information" was actually one of two alternate—and, let's be honest, thankfully rejected—names for what ultimately became the World Wide Web. The other was the "Information Mesh." Which means, in an alternate universe, right now you're reading a meshsite or surfing the Mine. Weird.
Think of the early 90s how much clothing was made of mesh. They must have just had it on their mind- Aurora Browne on why the World Wide Web was nearly called "The Information Mesh."
