Happy birthday internet! AustrEnglish, and giving EpiPen a dose of its own medicine
The Because News panel celebrated the 25th birthday of the World Wide Web this week by baking a cake and then posting pictures of it on Instagram. And then going on a diet to lose the calories. And then posting their weight loss regimen all over social media. No. What they actually did was browse the internet's history and revisit famous memes.
AustrEnglish isn't an actual word. It's just something we made up to make you read this. But the newly-updated National Australian Dictionary is full of actual words--actual Australian words. This week, our panel tested their understanding of the dictionary's newest entries. You can test your knowledge of AustrEnglish too!
You know that old saying: "the medicine is worse than the illness"? Well, in the case of EpiPen--the spring-loaded syringe that prevents anaphylactic shock--it's almost true. This week, the Because News panel sticks it to the EpiPen manufacturer for jacking the price of the life-saving device sky-high.
