The high-profile construction project on the outskirts of St. John's was built to improve access to the busy and ever-growing Galway development, and to reduce traffic on Pitts Memorial Drive. Motorists often didn’t notice the major work — at least when it came to slowdowns — as a four-lane diversion was built as a temporary measure.
