Montreal director's documentary explores life as a Black, queer circus artist in Bolsonaro's Brazil
When Richard, a Brazilian artist living in Rio de Janeiro's favelas, gets kicked out of his home by his adoptive mother, his life takes a turn. Montreal director Lamia Chraibi followed him for five years for her new documentary Circo, which premiered on Friday at the Montreal International Documentary Festival. The second screening of the film is Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Cinémathèque Québécoise.
