Gambo teacher gets Governor General’s award for student project to learn about people at unmarked graves
Jo Anne Broders is a Grade 8 teacher at Smallwood Academy, and one of six receiving the award, considered the country’s most prestigious honour in the field of history. Broders and her students set out to learn about a small Mi’kmaq cemetery in Gambo. The CBC’s Carolyn Stokes spoke to Broders about that project, her teaching style and her students.
