Yukon government to implement recommendations after coroner inquest at Whitehorse Emergency Shelter
It's been three months since the coroner's inquest into the deaths of four Indigenous women at the Whitehorse shelter. Myranda Tizya-Charlie, Cassandra Warville, Josephine Elizabeth Hager and Darla Skookum died at the shelter in 2022 and 2023. The jury issued a list of recommendations, including some directed at the Yukon government. The government has released an update on how it's responding. It says it will implement recommendations before the end of October, but it doesn't have an additional budget to do so. The CBC's Virginie Ann has more.
