Whites told to leave Zimbabwe or die
The leader of war veterans in Zimbabwe says many whites should leave the country or risk being killed. Chenjerai Hunzvi's veterans have seized more than 700 white-owned farms.
Hunzvi says President Robert Mugabe should round up British passport holders and kick them out of the country.
"All those with British passports, they must go back to Britain," said Hunzvi. "They should go to the airport. If they don't they will go into the ground."
Hunzvi and his supporters want the farms handed over to landless blacks. They say the land was stolen from their ancestors.
Hunzvi says he's setting up a committee to begin redistributing the land now. He says he doesn't intend to wait for politicians to do it.
The farm occupations began a few months ago. Many farmers and farm workers have been attacked by the squatters.
A farmer died on Monday after he was beaten by five men over the weekend. Alan Dunn is the third white farmer to be killed in the violence.
Dunn had ties to the country's opposition, the Movement for Democratic Change. Some political observers say the farm occupations are not about reclaiming land they're part of a campaign to intimidate opposition supporters before elections that must be held by August.
After Dunn died in hospital on Monday, there was a disturbing new development in the crisis. Two blacks were assaulted by white farmers in what appeared to be a revenge attack.
