Superman Vladimir Putin finds buried treasure
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has spent years cultivating a Superman image in the Russian media, but on Wednesday he gave his best Aquaman imitation instead.
The Russian leader, lauded in the state-run media as a man of action, has been shown in highly organized photo and video opportunities playing hockey, riding on horseback without a shirt, swimming, building a fire, boating, shooting a whale, fishing without a shirt, singing at a benefit concert for children with cancer, taking down opponents during Judo, and carrying a gun through the wilderness without a shirt.
This week, he went diving.
He dove at a Greek Black Sea archaeology site, the cameras following him underwater, as he came across two urns on the seabed, in a perfect sightline with the camera in clear water. The premier grabbed both urns — apparently sixth-century Greek urns — with his bare hands and brought them to the surface.
"Treasure!" Putin told assembled media after surfacing.
It's widely believed that Putin will run for president again in 2012.
