Sand Flea robot can leap off tall buildings
Sand Flea the jumping robot has to be seen to be believed: it can leap more than nine metres or hop off a building and land unharmed.
It's not a bird, it's not a plane and it's not Superman, but Sand Flea can leap from tall buildings in a single bound.
The robot, created by Boston Dynamics, is capable of leaping more than nine metres in the air, as high as a three-storey building.
Sand Flea can also leap off tall buildings and land undamaged. That's a skill that might make it useful for the U.S. military, which plans to test nine Sand Fleas in Afghanistan.
Wired.com reported that each Sand Flea comes equipped with a camera to make it easier to control remotely.
Sand Flea could be used to explore closed-off environments from safe distances.
