Harry and Meghan's relationship started in Canada, and the Queen confirmed Monday that that is where they will be returning, at least temporarily, as part of their plan to step back from their roles in the Royal Family.

We look back at their relationship in pictures.

After spending the Christmas holidays in Vancouver, Harry and Meghan visited Canada House in London to offer thanks for the hospitality and support they received during their recent stay in Canada. The royal couple have indictated they will 'work to become financially independent' as part of a surprise announcement saying they wish 'to step back' as senior members of the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have yet to say exactly where they intend to spend their time, but they've given strong indications that it will be in Canada.

While Prince Harry and girlfriend Meghan Markle had been photographed together and acknowledged their relationship, they first appeared together at an official event in Toronto during the Invictus Games on Sept. 25, 2017.

Fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski photographed Harry and Meghan for their engagement in December 2017. Lubomirski, a former assistant to Mario Testino, famed for his photos of Harry's mother Diana, Princess of Wales, took the pictures at the royal retreat of Frogmore House, near Windsor Castle.

Harry and Meghan were wed in Windsor on May 19, 2018. Queen Elizabeth gave them the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
