Tense times: Cuba's fractious relationship with the U.S.

The United States and Cuba signalled on Wednesday that the two rivals would take steps to normalize diplomatic relations after more than half a century of hostilities that started with Fidel Castro's 1959 coup. The U.S. has imposed strict trade embargoes on the communist island ever since.
