The Eagles of Death Metal make emotional return in Paris show

The California rock band that was on stage at the Bataclan concert hall during the Paris attacks in November made an emotionally charged return to the city on Tuesday.

The show was filled with survivors and relatives of the dead.

The California rock band Eagles of Death Metal, which was on stage at the Bataclan concert hall during the Paris attacks in November, made an emotionally charged return to the city on Tuesday.

'Bon soir Paris, we're ready for this!' 

After a moment of silence, frontman Jesse Hughs told the crowd the band was ready before heading straight into the first song. Later, between two songs, he shouted: "Peace, love and rock and roll!"

The band's performance on Nov. 13 turned into a bloodbath when Islamist suicide bombers stormed in during near-simultaneous attacks around the French capital. Ninety concert-goers at the Bataclan were killed.

'You're stuck with me, I'm Parisian now.' 

At one point during the concert, Hughes pledged his love for Paris. The band tweeted the photo and quote below after the show.

Despite tight security, viewers were in good spirits and the house was packed.

"I don't know why God picked us to be the band."

In a TV interview about the November attacks before the show, singer Hughes broke down sobbing.
