Michelle Obama's eye roll proves contentious
After U.S. President Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony Monday, the Obamas instantly became one of the highest-trending topics on Twitter — but perhaps not the way they might have wanted.
During a post-inauguration luncheon, the president's wife Michelle can be seen rolling her eyes during a conversation between her husband and House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner.
The president leaned back to say something to the House Speaker before Boehner tapped the first lady on the shoulder as he responded. No audio could be heard, but the First Lady did not appear impressed. The video has since received massive traction on social media.
Larry Wenig, a lip-reading expert, told the CBS show Inside Edition that his analysis indicates Boehner asked the president if he had a cigarette before the Monday luncheon. According to Wenig, Boehner was referring to Michelle when he quipped to the commander in chief, "Somebody won’t let you do it."
Whatever the gesture meant, Michelle Obama's epic inaugural eye roll is poised to become one of the best-loved GIFs of all time.
