Suspect in fatal shooting on Las Vegas Strip surrenders after standoff
1 dead, 1 in fair condition as attack prompted partial closure of busy boulevard
People returned to the heart of the Las Vegas Strip Saturday evening after a gunman shot people on a public bus and then barricaded himself inside, shutting down the busy tourism corridor for hours.
The standoff began around 11 a.m. local time after a shooting that killed one person and injured another. It happened on a double-decker bus stopped on Las Vegas Boulevard near the Cosmopolitan and Bellagio hotels.
"He was on the bus. He was shooting people on the bus. He was just contained to that location. He never exited the bus," said Clark County Assistant Sheriff Tom Roberts.
The suspect in the bus has surrendered to officers, and is in custody. #LVMPDnews

Two people were taken to hospital.
University Medical Centre spokeswoman Danita Cohen said one died and the other was in fair condition. Police said that person suffered minor injuries.
Crisis negotiators and SWAT officers were called to the scene, according to Las Vegas Police Department Officer Larry Hadfield.
Hadfield said the suspect, who they did not identify, was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. without incident.
Police said they believe the man on the bus is the only suspect and that they have ruled out terrorism or any relationship to an earlier robbery nearby that shut down a part of the Bellagio hotel-casino.
