Kim Jong-un: North Korea leader back on his feet, photos show
Leader's 6-week absence explained as removal of a cyst from his ankle
The first photographs of North Korea leader Kim Jong-un walking unaided since his reappearance from a lengthy public absence were released today by the country's state media.
KRT said the pictures of his meeting with army officials were shot on Nov. 3 and 4.
State media in October broadcast photos of Kim using a black walking stick to support himself, after an absence from North Korean media reports for more than a month.
Speculation that Kim's unusually long absence from public view might have been caused by ill health was fuelled by a North Korean television report in late September that said he was suffering from "discomfort."
The photos KRT broadcast on Wednesday showed Kim awarding prizes to military officers at the meeting of battalion commanders and political instructors.
Seoul's Yonhap news agency said the meeting was the first event of its kind in eight years. The previous such meeting was held in 2006, chaired by the late leader Kim Jong-il.
