Gaza conflict: Food shortages push residents to aid centres
Food distribution centres in Gaza City crowded as displaced residents seek food, shelter
Heavy fighting continues in the Gaza Strip as Israeli troops backed by tanks and aerial drones clash with Hamas fighters armed with rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles on the outskirts of the southern city of Khan Younis.
The Palestinian Red Crescent was trying to evacuate some 250 people from the area, which has been pummelled by airstrikes and tank shelling since early Wednesday.

The only places to go are towns and neighbourhoods also under attack, or areas that have already been attacked.
Many streets in Gaza are now under rubble, and the level of desperation is high. Food is scarce, electricity comes and goes, and often the outages persist. Water is also hard to find.
Many residents are forced to seek humanitarian aid.
