Inside Fidel Castro's childhood home
We take you on a tour of the home where former Cuban president Fidel Castro was born, a sugar plantation in eastern Cuba.
The birthplace of revolutionary leader Fidel Castro in what is now Holguin province in eastern Cuba was once a farm, but since 2002 has been a museum.
Fidel Castro, whose death at age 90 was announced Friday, was born on the property near the village of Biran on Aug. 13, 1926. His brother Raul, who took Fidel's place as Cuba's president in 2008, was born on the estate in 1931.
Their parents Angel Castro and Lina Ruz had seven children together and married after Fidel, their third child, was born.
CBC's Adrienne Arsenault, who was on assignment in Cuba in March 2015 and toured the homestead, filed this report.
