U.S. navy is towing HMCS Protecteur, which lost power last Thursday, to Pearl Harbor in Hawaii

Family members who were rescued from the crippled Canadian navy ship HMCS Protecteur landed safely at Pearl Harbor on Tuesday.

CBC's Chris Brown, reporting from Hawaii, said the 17 people travelling with the Canadian vessel when the fire broke out in the engine room were transported via the USS Michael Murphy.

"This will be the first time that we've actually heard from anyone who was on board the ship and might be able to describe some of the conditions," Brown reported.
