Minnesota police find cocaine in tour bus bedroom where Scott Weiland was found dead

Minnesota police find cocaine in tour bus bedroom where Rock singer Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver was found dead Thursday night, and musicians who had worked and performed with him expressed their grief on Twitter.

Weiland was member of Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver

Police in Minnesota say they found cocaine in the bedroom of the tour bus where former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland was found dead.

Police said they found "a small quantity" of cocaine during a search of the bus Friday following Weiland's death.

Investigators say they also found a small amount of cocaine elsewhere in the bus and arrested a California man who was travelling with Weiland. The man hasn't been charged.

Police released no additional information on Weiland's cause of death, saying it would be released by the local coroner.

Weiland died in his sleep Thursday night, and musicians who had worked and performed with him expressed their grief on Twitter.

A statement on Weiland's social media pages indicated that he died in his sleep in Bloomington, Minn., while on tour with his current band, the Wildabouts.

Both guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan were members of Velvet Revolver along with Weiland, who left the group in 2008.

In addition to Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, Weiland was a member of a number of supergroups and side projects throughout his career.

Guitarists Dave Navarro and Billy Morrison performed with Weiland in Camp Freddy.

Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray and Martyn LeNoble of Porno for Pyros performed with Weiland in a short-lived side project called The Wondergirls in 1999.

Weiland also performed vocals on the 2015 self-titled album from Art of Anarchy.
