"He was in the room," Diesel said. "There's no other person that I was thinking about as I was cutting this umbilical cord. I just knew he was there."

Vin Diesel has named his newborn baby daughter Pauline after friend and fellow Fast and Furious actor Paul Walker.

He posted these words on his Facebook page last week along with the above image:

"I hear babies crying,
I watch them grow.
They'll learn much more,
Than I'll ever know.
And I think to myself,
What a wonderful world..."

The Fast and Furious star told the TODAY show that "There's no other person I was thinking about as I was cutting this umbilical cord … I knew he was there."

"I just felt like [this is] a way to keep his memory part of my family and a part of my world."

Paul Walker who died on Nov. 30, 2013

On Nov. 30, 2013 Walker, 40, was killed while riding as a passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT that struck a light pole and a tree in Santa Clarita, Calif. Walker's friend Roger Rodas, who was driving at the time, was also killed. Authorities said speed was a factor in the crash.

The death stunned fans of the popular Fast and the Furious franchise, many of whom visited the crash site in the days following the crash to pay tribute to the actor.

According to Vanity Fair, Diesel showed up last week at the first public screening of Furious 7, Walker's final film, and made an emotional statement about his friend.

"This was a labour of love. It was in some ways the hardest movie I ever had to do because the relationships that you see on film are so real. When the tragedy happened, I lost my best friend. I lost my brother."

Furious 7 opens in theatres on April 3.
