Smoky skies from wildfires snapped by residents in Vancouver

As wildfires rage across parts of B.C., the resulting smoke and ash have spread over several communities, prompting residents to share their jaw-dropping photos of the eerily dark skies.
As the sun approached the horizon Saturday evening, the smoke intermingled with the sunset to paint a rust-like veneer over what might have otherwise been a clear summer's night. Downtown Vancouver looked like it sat underneath a red sun.
Several new wildfires and a few old ones have caused local authorities to issue evacuation orders and states of emergency in several B.C. communities.
