Mattel has a new 3D toy printer so kids can make their own gizmos. The ThingMaker is being introduced this week at the New York Toy Fair.

Mattel says the ThingMaker can be used to create toys like dolls, robots and dinosaurs, or wearable accessories such as bracelets and necklaces.

The ThingMaker Design App has easy-to-follow templates or allows budding toy designers to build their own creations from hundreds of parts. The ThingMaker is expected to sell for about $300 US and will be available in the fall. Amazon is now taking pre-orders.
