The CBC Pollcast, hosted by CBC poll analyst and ThreeHundredEight.com founder Éric Grenier, explores the world of political polls and the trends they show.

Joining Éric on today's podcast is the CBC's David Cochrane and James McLeod of The Telegram, two journalists covering the Newfoundland and Labrador provincial election campaign, which will conclude on Monday.

The polls suggest the Liberals are on track for a landslide victory against the incumbent Progressive Conservatives under Paul Davis. The New Democrats, led by Earle McCurdy, are also likely to suffer seat losses.

Cochrane notes that N.L. voters heavily backed Justin Trudeau's federal Liberals in October. "It is pretty hard six weeks later to ask them to turn around and vote for a PC government when Dwight Ball and [the N.L. Liberals] are pretty tight with Trudeau."

With the federal Liberals representing every single seat East of Quebec, and with Liberal governments already in place in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI, will next week’s election paint yet another part of that region red?
