The CBC Pollcast, hosted by CBC poll analyst and ThreeHundredEight.com founder Éric Grenier, explores the world of electoral politics, political polls and the trends they reveal.

Voters in Saskatchewan will go to the polls on April 4. But for many, the outcome is not in doubt, with Brad Wall ranking as the country's most popular premier.

Joining Éric Grenier this week to break down the upcoming provincial election in Saskatchewan is Murray Mandryk, political columnist for the Regina Leader-Post.

The latest polls out of the province show the governing Saskatchewan Party to be enjoying a lead of more than 20 points against the opposition New Democrats.

But after the shock of the Alberta provincial election last year, the potential for another surprise still exists. Technically, at least.

The safe money, according to Mandryk, is squarely on Brad Wall. But what does the election mean in the national context, as Wall increasingly steps into the spotlight to urge support for the energy industry from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau?

We talk to Murray Mandryk, political columnist for the Regina Leader-Post, about the upcoming Saskatchewan provincial election.
