Donor dollars: who gave money to candidates in the 2010 civic election
Campaign contributions for the 2014 Winnipeg election.
First time civic election donation data posted online
Sam Katz and Judy Wasylycia-Leis took in more than $180 000 each in 2010, according to their financial returns. The total amount of donations claimed by all candidates for mayor and council reached nearly $900 000.
For the first time ever, Winnipeggers can now find out who gave what to candidates in the civic election.
The data was compiled by the CBC. The only way to get the big picture of where the money in civic politics is coming from is to manually enter each donation into a database. The CBC entered all 2,655 individual donations into a spreadsheet.
The data is broken down by donor and candidate for the 2010 election.
