Trevor Noah to headline Toronto's JFL42 days before Daily Show premiere
Jon Stewart's successor will perform at the Sony Centre on Sept. 26
Curious Daily Show fans can get a sneak peek at the comedy stylings of Trevor Noah in Toronto this summer.
Jon Stewart's successor will take the mic at JFL42 comedy festival just two days before he takes a seat behind the desk at the wildly popular satirical news show.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah premieres on Comedy Central on Sept. 28. But the 31-year-old South African comic will warm up for Canadians just two days before, performing at Toronto's Sony Centre on Sept. 26.
'Manufactured' controversy
The rocket-ride to international stardom has proved a bumpy one for the soon-to-be host, after his graphic tweets targeting women, Jews, and victims of the Ebola virus surfaced online.

Robbie Praw, JFL42's vice president of programming, called the controversy "manufactured."
"Comedians try things. Their job is to comment on society," Praw told CBC News.
"Maybe a few of [his comments] he would have taken back ... but what people didn't read the day that supposed controversy started were the 9,850 other comments that were on point and really funny."
In the days after the scandal, Stewart also voiced his support for Noah, calling him "incredibly thoughtful and considerate and funny and smart."
Other headliners confirmed by JFL42 organizers on Tuesday include:
- Scottish-born American late night host Craig Ferguson
- Stand-up star and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actor Patton Oswalt.
- Chicago-born funnyman and Bill Cosby mocker Hannibal Buress
- Netflix stand-up star and comedic actor and radio host Bill Burr
- SNL writer and Fox sitcom star John Mulaney
- Host of Comedy Central's @midnight, Talking Dead, and the Nerdist podcast Chris Hardwick
- Lipstick loving YouTube star Miranda Sings
The fourth edition of JFL42 runs from Sept. 24 to Oct.3 in Toronto. Festival passes go on sale on Friday and range in price from $54.50 - $299. More information can be found on the JFL42 website.
