Streep! Hanks! Springsteen! TIFF reveals list of expected guests

Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Bruce Springsteen are among the stars expected to walk the red carpet at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, and Bruce Springsteen are among the stars expected to walk the red carpet at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

The three are on a newly released list of expected talent for the 11-day movie marathon, which runs Sept. 5-15.

Streep will appear for Netflix's The Laundromat, about journalists probing the so-called Panama Papers money laundering scandal. She's also one of the inaugural recipients of the festival's new Tribute awards.

Hanks is in the lineup with A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, in which he plays children's television entertainer Fred Rogers.

Springsteen is slated to attend the world premiere of his performance documentary Western Stars.

Other A-listers expected to drop in include Joker star Joaquin Phoenix; Daniel Craig for the murder mystery Knives Out; Matt Damon and Christian Bale with the racing biopic Ford v Ferrari; Nicole Kidman for the art forgery drama The Goldfinch; and Natalie Portman with the space story Lucy in the Sky.

Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu are anticipated to be on the red carpet with the stripper story Hustlers, and Renée Zellweger for Judy, in which she plays singer and actress Judy Garland. Co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver are slated to attend for Marriage Story.

Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Foxx will appear for the biopic Just Mercy, about renowned civil rights defence lawyer Bryan Stevenson, while Eddie Murphy fans await his appearance for Dolemite Is My Name, in which he plays comedian Rudy Ray Moore.

Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart is scheduled to be at the fest promoting the historical drama Seberg, in which she plays real-life actress Jean Seberg, and Lucas Hedges and Sterling K. Brown for the romantic drama Waves.

Canadian stars on the list include Christopher Plummer, Donald Sutherland, Ellen Page, Atom Egoyan, Neve Campbell and David Foster.
