TIFF 2013 red carpet highlights

From Brad Pitt to Denis Villeneuve to Nicole Kidman, top stars and directors walk the red carpets at the 38th Toronto International Film Festival.

From Reese Witherspoon to Daniel Radcliffe, top stars touch down at the Toronto International Film Festival

The Toronto International Film Festival opened on Thursday with the premiere of the WikiLeaks thriller The Fifth Estate, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Daniel Bruhl, Alicia Vikander and Carice van Houten, to name a few.

As the 38th annual edition of the film festival continues, star-spotters and cinephiles alike are offered a rare chance to see and — as was the case with Brad Pitt's surprise arrival on the red carpet for 12 Years a Slave — get an autograph from or pose for a photo with their favourite actors and filmmakers.

Throughout the festival, CBCNews.ca will be covering the premieres of the films with the most buzz (including The Fifth Estate, 12 Years a Slave, Gravity and Prisoners) as well as posting photos from the red carpet galas. From Brad Pitt, to Denis Villeneuve to Keanu Reeves, the top images from the red carpet will land here.

The Toronto International Film Festival continues through Sept. 15.
