The Revenant sees Vancouver's Gracey Dove star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio
Actress, host of APTN's underExposed shares news online
The upcoming Leonardo DiCaprio survival tale The Revenant has unveiled yet another Canadian connection: Vancouver-based actress Gracey Dove plays his character's wife.
Based on a true story, The Revenant stars DiCaprio as 19th century explorer Hugh Glass, who was left for dead in the wilderness after a bear attack.
This week, 20th Century Fox unveiled a thrilling new trailer for the upcoming film and DiCaprio posted promotional images on social media, including a dramatic image of the Oscar nominee sharing a tender onscreen moment with Dove.
The Canadian actress, a Shuswap from Canim Lake Indian Band who also hosts the APTN adventure sports TV series underExposed, confirmed the news.
"I am absolutely thrilled to finally be able to reveal the biggest news of my life thus far," she posted via Instagram.
"This film took me to the end of the world, and back," she added, noting that she filmed scenes this past summer in Argentina and in California.
Directed by Oscar-winning director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and also shot in part in Alberta, the film is set for release during the upcoming holiday season, just in time for 2016 Oscar consideration.
Glass' son in the film is also portrayed by a Canadian: first-timer Isaiah Tootoosis, the seven year old great-grandson of the late Cree actor Gordon Tootoosis.
