P.K. Subban's Just for Laughs comedy gala set for TV
Nashville Predators defenceman and NHL fan favourite returned to Montreal for gala despite trade
A Just For Laughs comedy gala that served as P.K. Subban's goodbye to Montreal will be broadcast as a one-hour TV special in the new year.
P.K. Subban: Shots Fired sees the Nashville Predators defenceman showcase his comedic chops while presenting a lineup of North American talents including Jeremy Hotz, Nate Bargatze, Dom Irrera, Tom Rhodes, Rebecca Kohler and the Sklar Brothers.
When the gala was first announced in March, the NHL all-star and fan favourite was still with the Montreal Canadiens.
He was traded to Nashville for Shea Weber on June 29 in a controversial and divisive deal, but still went on with the comedy show, which was staged in August.
The CBC-TV special, airing Jan. 2, will also reveal the ribbing Subban received on Twitter from fellow NHLers about his surprise trade, and the warm send-off he received from the city.
Proceeds raised by the P.K. Subban Foundation from the gala were to be donated to the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation.

Last year, Subban and his foundation pledged at least $10 million to the hospital, which was billed as the largest philanthropic commitment ever made by a professional athlete in Canada.
