Sharon and Bram to host memorial for Lois Lilienstein
Popular children's entertainer died in April
A tribute concert celebrating the life of children's entertainer Lois Lilienstein of Sharon, Lois & Bram will feature selections from the trio's beloved songbook.
Sharon Hampson and Bram Morrison say a public memorial will be held Sept. 26 in the Jane Mallett Theatre at Toronto's St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts.
The event will feature some of the group's fan favourites, including She'll be Comin' Round the Mountain, One Elephant and Skinnamarink.
Morrison says the proceeds will benefit Mariposa in the Schools, a group that provides Ontario school children with world music, dance, storytelling, spoken word and puppetry.
Lilienstein died in April after a battle with cancer. She was 78.
The bubbly blond performer is credited with providing the special spark that helped make Sharon, Lois & Bram one of the biggest kids' acts of the 1980s.
"Celebrating Lois" will remember Lilienstein "through songs, stories, photos and video, featuring special guests, and of course laughter."
"We're having a party for Lois, and Lois loved a party!" Hampson and Morrison said Monday in a release.
"We are so pleased to have the opportunity to share these memories with the people whose lives were touched by Lois."
