"Hey guys, I'm in Montana, is anything happening in LA?" reads the post that shows the 35-year-old comedic actress and producer winking at the camera.
She also included the hashtag "themindyproject," suggesting to her cult following that her program may not be finished after all.
Fans in 'dire' need
Fans of The Mindy Project are taking to social media in droves to express their disappointment over the cancellation.
Many seem desperate to how things were going to turn out for Kaling's character, Dr. Mindy Lahiri, who was pregnant at the conclusion of the show's third season.

Others likened the development to the death of Dr. Derek (McDreamy) Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy last month.
First Derek dies. Then Mindy is cancelled. The apocalypse is coming. I hate life

Fans of that show responded to the surprise plot twist with a petition to have the character brought back to life.
But followers of the The Mindy Project may not have to take such extreme measures to see its resurgence.
American online video company Hulu is reportedly in talks to carry multiple new seasons of the show. But Canadian fans would still be out of luck.
Hulu is not yet available north of the border.
