Melissa McCarthy, Jennifer Lawrence and Scarlett Johansson on Forbes list of highest-paid actresses
World's 10 highest-paid actresses earned a combined $205M US between June 1, 2015, and June 1, 2016
10. Deepika Padukone
Bollywood star Deepika Padukone is the only newcomer on the Forbes list this year. While she may not be very well known to North American viewers, the Indian actress took home $10 million US this year.
9. Mila Kunis
Widely known for her work in television early in her career, Mila Kunis has successfully transitioned to the big screen in recent years. Here, she is seen at the premiere of Jupiter Ascending in Feb. 2015. Kunis earned an estimated $11 million this year from her movie roles as well as her work on the animated series Family Guy, where she has voiced the character Meg Griffin since 1999.
8. Julia Roberts
An endorsement deal with French cosmetics company Lancôme helped Julia Roberts land the eighth spot on this year's list, with $12 million in earnings.
7. Amy Adams
With her recurring role as leading lady Lois Lane in the DC Comics movies, it's no surprise to find Amy Adams seventh on the list, taking home $13.5 million.
6. Charlize Theron
Oscar winner Charlize Theron banked $16.5 million this year, with roles in Mad Max: Fury Road and The Huntsman: Winter's War.
5. Fan Bingbing
Chinese actress Fan Bingbing cracks the top 5, raking in $17 million. Bingbing has become one of China's biggest stars since rising to fame in the late 1990s. Viewers in North America probably know her best for her role as Blink in the 2014 Hollywood blockbuster X-Men: Days of Future Past.
4. Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston has left Friends behind, landing roles in several Hollywood blockbusters since the show ended in 2004. Aniston's most recent film, Mother's Day, was released in April 2016, and the actress is slated to star in several more before the year is out. No wonder, then, that she took home $21 million this year.
3. Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson of Captain America: Civil Wars was third on the Forbes list, at $25 million, down nearly 30 per cent from 2015.
2. Melissa McCarthy
McCarthy took home $33 million in earnings, good for second on the list and up $10 million from 2015, in part from her payday for the controversial female reboot of Ghostbusters. It was the biggest one-year paycheque to date for the star of the television comedy Mike and Molly. McCarthy, 45, also launched a clothing line for sizes 4 to 28 after becoming frustrated at the outfits available for larger women.
1. Jennifer Lawrence
Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence tops the Forbes list for the second straight year, earning some $46 million. The 26-year-old took the top spot largely through a slice of the profits from the final movie in the Hunger Games franchise, as well as a big up-front fee for her forthcoming space adventure movie Passengers, Forbes said.
