Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara set for Legacy honour from Canadian film academy
Veteran comedy pair currently star in CBC-TV's Schitt's Creek
Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara, two of Canada's brightest comedic stars, will be honoured with the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television's Legacy Award.
The award is presented for "unflagging dedication in bringing international acclaim to Canadian talent in film, television or digital media."
"With decades of brilliant work behind them and many more to come, Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara stand among the world's finest comic actors," academy chair Martin Katz said in a statement.
"Though they are not an official duo, they have played together so often and so well, that we thought it only fitting to honour them together."
Levy and O'Hara, who first met at Toronto's Second City Theatre and later helped found the influential TV sketch show SCTV, have appeared in dozens of movies and received many awards.
Perhaps most memorably, they appear together in the critically acclaimed, Christopher Guest mockumentary films Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration.
The duo are currently starring as a married couple in the hit CBC-TV series Schitt's Creek.
The Academy Legacy Award will be presented at An Evening with Canada's Stars, an annual red carpet event held during awards season in Los Angeles.
The gala, co-hosted by the academy, Telefilm Canada and the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles, will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Feb. 25.
