Lauryn Hill blames 'artistic process' for being late to concert
The singer was two hours late for a show in Atlanta and played for less than 40 minutes
Musician Lauryn Hill says she will "make it up" to fans angry that she arrived more than two hours late to an Atlanta concert Friday night and performed for fewer than 40 minutes.
Hill wrote on her Facebook page Sunday that the "artistic process" often prevents her from arriving on time. But she said it's not that she doesn't care.
"For every performance that I've arrived to late, there have been countless others where I've performed in excess of two hours, beyond what I am contracted to do, pouring everything out on the stage," she wrote.
She said it's difficult to coordinate her "energy with the time."
"I don't have an on/off switch," she posted. "I am at my best when I am open, rested, sensitive and liberated to express myself as truthfully as possible."
The concert was held at the city's Chastain Park Amphitheatre, which has an 11 p.m. noise curfew. In one video filmed by a fan, Hill is heard blaming her driver getting lost for the tardiness.
NOT him dragging Lauryn to her face. She deserved it though! <a href="https://t.co/zEuYUbnWoE">pic.twitter.com/zEuYUbnWoE</a>

Many people were outraged about the situation on social media.
I left my job at 8:30 and made it to <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Chastain?src=hash">#Chastain</a> by 9p. What time did your driver leave <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/laurynhill?src=hash">#laurynhill</a>?<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/stoplying?src=hash">#stoplying</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/respeck?src=hash">#respeck</a> to fans!!!

Hill has been known to be late for performances. In the note, Hill said she respects her fans and regrets not being able to do a full show.
"We are figuring out a plan to make it up to you, and will announce details as soon as we have them," she wrote.
