Glass Tiger's Alan Frew has stroke but vows to sing again
Singer-songwriter, 58, determined to recover, 'overwhelmed' by outpouring of support
Alan Frew, lead singer of the Canadian band Glass Tiger, has announced on social media that he suffered a stroke.
He said he wanted to break the news himself so that friends and fans wouldn't "hear it from the rumour mill."
Frew, 58, said in an Instagram post that appeared late Saturday that he suffered the stroke on Thursday.

—@AlanFrew"This will now be the fight of my life," he said. "I am alive, obviously, and have all my brain power. I have suffered right-sided trauma, but I am fighting the Warrior's fight already."
The five-time Juno Award winner and Grammy nominee promised he would release a CD that's in the works and perform it live.
"I will see you all soon enough when I periscope one day and I will sing for you again, fear not."
He also said he's "truly humbled and overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and best wishes" in the past few days. There is no word yet on where he's getting treatment.
Frew took to Twitter and Instagram on Sunday, quoting the title of Glass Tiger's song Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone) from the band's debut hit album The Thin Red Line.
A photo posted online shows a sheet of paper with handwritten lyrics to the song and the comment, "It ain't pretty but it's a beautiful start."
Glass Tiger formed in Newmarket, Ont., in the 1980s and produced several hit singles in Canada. The band continues to perform select dates.
Two songs from the band's first album, released in 1986, made it to Billboard magazine's top 10:
