Coachella 2014 lineup revealed
Grammy-winning hip hop duo Outkast will reunite at the 2014 Coachella Music and Arts Festival, with chart-topping rockers Arcade Fire and Muse also tapped as headliners for this year's edition of the three-day music extravaganza.
Organizers revealed on Wednesday evening this year's lineup for southern California's desert music fest, which runs on consecutive weekends, April 11-13 and 18-20.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Outkast's debut album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. The eclectic pair — André (André 3000) Benjamin and Antwan (Big Boi) Patton — is considered among the most experimental and creative hip hop acts and has won a host of awards. In 2004, Outkast was the first hip hop group ever to win one of the top Grammys: album of the year (for the smash hit double-album Speakerboxx/The Love Below).
After releasing their sixth studio album Idewild, which also served the soundtrack for their movie musical of the same name, the Atlanta duo have since pursued solo endeavours, including albums and movie roles.
Arcade Fire adds the headlining Coachella gig to its busy touring slate in support of its latest album, Reflektor, unveiled in late October. The Montreal-based band is also set to headline the U.K.'s Glastonbury Festival in late June.
Popular British rock group Muse released its third live album and DVD (Live at Rome Olympic Stadium) in November.
As well as high-profile reunions, Coachella is known for its star-packed audience and offering an wide-ranging slate of acts: from long-established veterans to hip newcomers.
