Cannes Film Festival jury includes Donald Sutherland

Canadian actor Donald Sutherland has joined the jury for this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Canadian actor Donald Sutherland has joined the jury for this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Other jury members include actors Kirsten Dunst, Mads Mikkelsen, Vanessa Paradis and Valeria Golino.

The jury is rounded out by producer Katayoon Shahabi and directors Arnaud Desplechin, Laszlo Nemes and Mad Max producer George Miller, who will serve as president.

Sutherland is a two-time Golden Globe Award winner who was born in Saint John, N.B., and also grew up in Nova Scotia.

Canadians in the Cannes lineup include Quebec director Xavier Dolan, whose film Juste la fin du monde (It's Only the End of the World) will be in competition for the prestigious Palme d'Or award.

Meanwhile, Montreal director Kim Nguyen's film Two Lovers and a Bear and Mean Dreams from Toronto's Nathan Morlando will be part of the Directors' Fortnight.

The festival runs May 11-22.
