Canadian Screen Awards 2016: Schitt's Creek, Orphan Black and Room win big
Host Norm Macdonald — with some support from 9-year-old Jacob Tremblay — renames awards 'The Candys'
Schitt's Creek, Orphan Black and Room were the big winners at Sunday night's Canadian Screen Awards — or should we say "The Candys"?
Host Norm Macdonald introduced the idea of renaming the awards in honour of late Canadian comedian John Candy at the beginning of the show, and both presenters and recipients happily embraced the idea.
Nine-year-old Jacob Tremblay, who later won Best Actor in a Leading Role for the movie Room, was the first to adopt Macdonald's proposal as he presented the "Candy" for Best Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role to Ari Millen of the television series Orphan Black.
"From the First Candys - Respect, Peace." Norm MacDonald out, and so are we! Thanks for watching! <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/CdnScreen16?src=hash">#CdnScreen16</a> <a href="https://t.co/GJtLs2FtcP">pic.twitter.com/GJtLs2FtcP</a>
