Nenshi predicts PC minority government in Alberta election
Calgary mayor met with NDP Leader Rachel Notley and Wildrose Leader Brian Jean
Calgary's mayor says he suspects the PCs will retain their hold on power in next week's election.
Naheed Nenshi made the prediction Thursday after meeting with two of the party leaders — NDP Leader Rachel Notley and Wildrose Leader Brian Jean.
"I suspect the PCs will win. I don't know. But the key is that my point being — there are options. People should vote. They should vote without fear."
Nenshi later added that he expects a PC minority, with whichever party that does the best in Calgary likely winning the election.
He also had kind words for Notley and Jean, who he met for the first time today.
"Both of them actually came off extremely sincere, extremely thoughtful, extremely willing to work with the City of Calgary and I appreciated that from both of them," he said.
Nenshi met with Prentice last month after the provincial budget, but hasn't seen him during this election campaign.
The mayor released a survey, called Cities Matter, which outlines party platforms on issues that should matter to Albertans living in cities. Nenshi says each party has a lot to offer, although he isn't endorsing any one party.
