A Yukon fashion designer is set to represent Canada in Paris.

Sho Sho Esquiro is of Kaska and Tlingit ancestry. Her work offers a modernist and abstracted take on aboriginal culture.

She will be showcasing eight pieces from her 2015 collection at the J Autumn fashion show in Paris on October 31.

The show is the first of its kind held at the Eiffel Tower.

Esquiro says it presents a big opportunity in her career.

"I know all the hard work will be worth it," she says.

"When you're trying to realize your dreams it takes lots of hard work, lots of dedication and lots of mistakes. Everybody has self-doubt but you keep your eye on the prize."

Esquiro is originally from Ross River Yukon and now lives in Vancouver. She has travelled across the United-States with her designs and made clothing worn by A Tribe Called Red.

She says her collection is dedicated to the murdered and missing aboriginal women in Canada.
