Three people have been charged after a man was found beaten and unconscious in a ditch near E.C. Row Expressway in Windsor, Ont., last week.

Police said officers went to the Windsor Regional Hospital's Ouellette campus on Saturday after an unidentified man was admitted to hospital, unconscious and with serious injuries.

According to police, a passerby found the man in a ditch in the 600 block of E.C. Row Avenue West, which borders E.C. Row Expressway near Dougall Avenue.

The man has since been identified, police said, but he remains in hospital.

Police said the investigation found the man was allegedly assaulted with a "blunt weapon" at a home in the 1700 block of McKay Avenue before he was taken and left in the ditch.

Police arrested three accused at a home on McEwan Avenue on Tuesday. Two men and one woman have been charged with counts including kidnapping, forcible confinement, aggravated assault, and break and enter.

Amid the ongoing investigation, police ask anyone with information to contact the major crimes unit or CrimeStoppers, and they can remain anonymous.
