Steve Laforet introduced as Windsor's new fire chief

At a news conference Tuesday afternoon, Laforet said he wants to maintain what has worked, while changing what hasn't.

Expected to start in his new role as of April 1, 2017

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens announced the hiring of a new fire chief. 

Steve Laforet is expected to start in his new role as of April 1, 2017. At a news conference Tuesday afternoon, Laforet said he wants to maintain what has worked, while changing what hasn't.

Laforet has been the deputy chief of operations for the past five years. He has worked with Windsor Fire and Rescue for 26 years. 

Laforet will be working with outgoing chief Bruce Montone as he transitions into the new job. 

A new deputy fire chief is expected as well.
