A dozen mosquito pools have now tested positive for West Nile virus across Windsor and Essex this summer.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit says the public must continue to take precautions against being bitten by mosquitoes as a result of the "steady and growing" number of positive mosquito pool tests.

The health unit offers a number of tips for residents, which include ensuring the windows of their homes are properly fitted with screens and avoiding the outdoors when mosquitoes are most active.

No human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in Windsor and Essex this year.
