Potholes leave two dozen cars damaged in Detroit on same morning
Potholes caused major problems in Detroit on Monday, damaging about two dozen cars, according to reports from local media outlets.
There's no sight of winter or snow in Detroit, yet potholes are still wreaking havoc in the frequently frostbitten Midwest city.
Officials say potholes are to blame for snarling traffic and damaging about two dozen vehicles during the morning commute on Monday.
Michigan Department of Transportation spokeswoman Diane Cross tells The Detroit News that repair crews were notified on Monday of problems at the Rouge Overpass, which caused a traffic jam on northbound Interstate 75 at the bridge that crosses the Rouge River.
The Detroit Free Press reports the backup stretched more than three kilometres.
Two lanes of I-75 were closed so crews could make repairs, while drivers were urged to avoid the area.
